Our Committee

Rev Darrell Thatcher, Convenor

Darrell was born in Cape Town, South Africa and came to Perth with his family in 1976.

He has a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in History and Philosophy from UWA, and a Bachelor of Divinity (Hons) from the Melbourne College of Divinity.

Ordained in 1987, he has served as a pastor in Harvey and in Marangaroo. He also taught theology for 5 years at Talua Ministry Training Centre in Vanuatu.

Since 2009, he and his wife Margaret have been members of Wycliffe Bible Translators Australia, serving as the Wycliffe WA Regional Coordinators. They have four children, and attend Henderson Memorial Presbyterian Church in West Leederville.

Darrell joined the Braemar Committee in March 2015, and became the Convenor at the beginning of 2017.


Craig Wallace, Deputy Convenor

Craig is the Deputy Convenor or the Braemar Committee, a role he has held since 2011.

Craig is a Partner of Lavan Legal and brings a wealth of commercial and legal experience to Braemar Presbyterian Care.

Craig’s previous engagements include a solicitor at Campbell Hooper and ASB Law.

 

 


Stephen Cooper

Stephen is a finance executive with extensive corporate services management experience in both the corporate and community benefit sectors.

His experience is specifically linked to education, health, distribution, industrial and manufacturing environments.

Key areas of experience include financial management, project management, facilities and asset management, and strategic and operational planning.

He has been a Braemar Committee Member since 2015 and is the Chair of the Finance Committee.


Graham Cowcher

Graham was born and raised in Adelaide and has worked in three states across Australia. His vocational experiences in health include acute, rehabilitation and aged care as well as experiences in local government, manufacturing and the insurance industry.

He looks to making a positive contribution to the Braemar Committee to ensure prudent oversight ensures outcome which enable for the extension of sustainable services in harmony with the mission (and Christ’s mission) of the Presbyterian Church. Christ’ love compels us.

He is married to Ronalda and has two adult children and three grandchildren.


Avril Eady-Rivers

Avril has been a member of the Braemar committee since February 2013 and a member of the Governance subcommittee since 2015. She has strong desire to see Braemar advance and be a leader in the future of the rapidly changing aged care environment. Avril was fortunate to be involved in the committee during the planning and completion of Braemar Cooinda.

Avril migrated to Perth from County Cork, Ireland in 1990 and has always been in the Melville area for work. She currently works full time for a local not for profit. Through Avril’s work, she has gained the experience and knowledge of the challenges in the current Aged Care and Community sector. Avril has trained and qualified in Business, Management, Aged Care, Occupational Health and Safety and has completed the TAE to teach these subjects.

Avril is a Deacon at Fremantle Presbyterian Church and currently serves on the church Board of Property and Finance. She is regularly involved in and volunteer for projects to assist those in need in our community. Avril loves travelling, animals, home baking, collecting penguin related items and spending time with her husband and friends.


Rosemary Kent

Rosemary has dedicated her professional career to the Public Health Sector. As a nurse and later a social worker Rosemary developed a high level of analytical assessment skill to provide sound planning and assist in resolving complex social challenges.

An aged care assessor for over twenty years, Rosemary brings a strong understanding of the industry to the Braemar committee.

Rosemary is a member of the Presbyterian Church. As well as being an energetic and enthusiastic advocate of Braemar, Rosemary has a passion to contribute to the organisation and provide quality service to those in the community that Braemar cares for.


Laurie Kruize

Laurie is a registered builder in WA and an Elder in the Presbyterian Church, as well as being a Member of the Building Services Committee at Building Commission of WA.

Laurie has been past-President of Housing Industry Association (WA), is a Life member Housing Industry Association (National) and past-President of Rehoboth Christian College as well as having previously been a Board Member of West Coast Governing Council.

He is married to Alie with four married daughters and 15 grandchildren.
