Our Leadership Team

Braemar’s leadership consists of a team of four highly skilled and respected aged care professionals. Operations is managed out of Braemar Corporate on the 3rd floor of Cooinda in Willagee, however you will often see the leadership team visiting all Braemar facilities.

Wayne Belcher (OAM)
Chief Executive

Wayne is an experienced Chief Executive in the aged care sector. Having entered aged care early in his career, he has held roles including Chief Executive of Bethanie as well as Director and Interim Chief Executive of Baptistcare WA.

Wayne was awarded a Medallion of the Order of Australia in 2007, in recognition of his significant contribution to community services. This in part acknowledged his dedication to aged care as well as assistance he gave to the Howard Government in an advisory capacity.

Wayne holds postgraduate qualifications in Health Administration, Divinity and Ministry.  He is also alumni at the Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania.

Until recently Wayne Belcher was a Pastor at Lake Joondalup Baptist Church. In March 2017 he joined Braemar as Chief Executive.  He will lead Braemar’s service delivery, growth and development into the future.

Lena Hopkinson
Executive Manager Care and Strategic Development

Lena joined Braemar in 2014 and has held the roles of Executive Manager Strategy and Performance as well as her current role of Executive Manager Care and Strategic Development

Lena is a Registered Mental Health Nurse with extensive experience in health care. She has held senior roles in both Western Australia and the United Kingdom. Throughout her career she has worked in a range of specialties, but her passion is dementia care.

She is qualified in Dementia Care Mapping and had the opportunity to work with Professor Tom Kitwood who pioneer the tool. She also holds a Master of Administration in Health and Social Care from Leeds University and has completed a number of Leadership and Management courses.

Renee Reid
General Manager Workforce

Renee grew up in South Africa before immigrating to the United Kingdom and moved to Australia in 2012, joining Braemar in October of that year as Human Resources Manager.

Now holding the role of General Manager Workforce, Renee brings 12 years’ experience in Human Resources Management to the Braemar senior executive team.

Renee has commercial experience in Construction, PR, Residential Care, Mental Health and Aged Care and is Qualified as an Ontological Coach. In 2015 she won the ACSWA Excellence award in the Trainee Category.

Kristy Ryan
General Manager Finance and Administration

Kristy graduated from Murdoch University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Professional Accounting before taking a role in Audit at Grant Thornton the following year.

Kristy became a Chartered Accountant in 2009, joining Braemar in 2015 as Financial Controller, a position she held until 2017 when she was promoted to the newly created role of General Manager Finance and Administration.

Kristy brings commercial experience from Energy, Oil and Gas, Logistics and Audit to the Braemar senior leadership team. Born in Southampton she grew up in Western Australia and has an interest in basketball, boating, RMS. Titanic and the Fremantle Dockers.
